Rausch is a family-owned chocolate company with three generations of chocolate making history. Beginning with a small shop in Berlin, Wilhelm Rausch sold chocolate treats to the locals. The popularity of his confections allowed his business to quickly expand, leading to the openings of several stores and two factories. Most recently, in 2000, the Rausch Plantagen Schokolade line of chocolates was introduced. Each product contains a different percentage of cocoa and is harvested from a single source. The flavours range from the mild Noumea from Papua New Guinea (35% cocoa), to the rich Tembadoro from Trinidad (80% cocoa). To ensure that the chocolate reaches its destination in perfect form, Rausch only delivers chocolate during the cooler months; during the summer the factory takes a break.
